According to the information, sixteen Naxalites including three commander-level personnel, named Rajesh Bhaskar, Bheema Telaam and Budhram, with rewards on their heads, surrendered before the Chhattisgarh Police in Dantewada on Thursday.
This information was given via official notification released by the Chhattisgarh Police department.
Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava said, “16 Naxalites have surrendered, three of whom have kept the bounty on their heads. Most of them are from western parts of Bastar district.” “Three of them are commander-level Naxalites and kept the bounty on their heads. There are two and four cases registered against all the Naxalites,” he said.
The SP of Dantewada further revealed that the surrendered Naxalites used to demolish the railway track and hit panchayat officials and villagers.
These are laudable efforts taken by the Chhattisgarh Government under the initiave called ‘lon varratu’ in the local Gondi dialect, where Maoists are being asked to return to the mainstream.
Let me tell you that a few days ago, 12 Naxalites surrendered under the Lone Varratu campaign in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh.
Among these 12 Naxalites, five are those on which the prize was announced.
So far 83 Naxalites have surrendered under the Lone Varattu campaign run by the local police.
Not only this, three Maoists including two minors were arrested after firing between security forces and Maoists in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh a few days ago.
