The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress are likely to release their list of candidates today for the February 8 Assembly polls. The election committees of both the parties met on Thursday to finalise the names.

The BJP’s central election committee met on Thursday to finalise the candidates for the February 8 polls. Top party leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party’s national president Amit Shah, working president JP Nadda, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, BJP in-charge of Delhi polls Prakash Javadekar and others held consultations at the BJP headquarters and discussed the names of probable candidates to contest the polls.

The election committee of the Delhi BJP last week said that it has shortlisted more than 1,400 names as probable candidates for the 70 Assembly seats.
he Congress election committee, which met on Thursday to finalise the names of candidates for the Delhi Assembly polls, will announce the names on Friday. Congress Delhi unit chief Subhash Chopra said, “We have discussed most of the seats and list will be coming tomorrow.” When asked if senior leaders will contest, he said the high command will decide. However, he said he would only be in-charge of managing the elections and not take part in the same directly. “I will not contest the elections as I have to manage the elections,” he said.

But before the list is out, the Congress leaders have arrived at party President Sonia Gandhi’s residence for Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting.
Meanwhile, talking about the Aam Aadmi Party, party leader Atishi will file her nomination from Kalkaji constituency.

She will hold a roadshow from Giri Nagar Gurudwara in Moolchand. Atishi will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Sisodia on Thursday filed his nomination papers from the Patparganj constituency for February 8 assembly polls.

As per the affidavit filed with the returning officer, Sisodia declared total assets worth Rs 93.5 lakh, a major chunk of which is the value of an apartment in Mayur Vihar that is owned by his wife.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to file his papers on January 21, the last date for filing the nomination. The party is likely to release its manifesto on Sunday.
