US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will aim to expand India-US global partnership in their extensive talks on Tuesday, as Trump will be in Delhi, as part of last leg of his two-day visit to India.
Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and top brass of his administration, arrived in Ahmedabad around noon on Monday for his maiden visit to India.
The US president was escorted to the world’s largest Motera stadium in the massive “Namaste Trump” event, at Ahmedabad. He was cheered by tens of thousands of people as Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited him to address them.
He then visited Taj Mahal in Agra, before moving to the national capital.
Today morning, Trump reached Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi where he was accorded ceremonial reception. President Trump met President Ram Nath Kovind. After the ceremonial reception, Trump will shortly visit Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
Later the day, Trump will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other delegates following which a mega announcement are expected around $3 billion defence deals, at Hyderabad House.
Apart from this, significant progress is likely to be made on the trade deal front, science and technology, space missions and Research and Development.
Prime Minister Modi would host a lunch for the US president following the talks.
In the afternoon, Trump is expected to attend certain private events at the US Embassy, including a roundtable with industry representatives.
In the evening, the US president will meet President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Trump would depart for the US from India later on Tuesday evening.
