After barely completing the first phase, the West Bengal government’s ‘Duare sarkaar’ project has reached into the second phase. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that 54.72 percent of services have been provided for under the ‘Duare sarkaar’ project. She said on Monday that state government officials and workers were reaching out to the people at the regional level with a total of 12 government services. As of December 20, more than 1 crore 12 lakh people have come to the camps set up by the state government for information and updates on the state government schemes. A total of 71 lakh applications have been submitted for various services. Of these, 38.88 lakh people have received the services.

In the words of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the huge response of the people towards the Duare sarkaar project is unprecedented. She claimed that there is no parallel example of such success in the world. She credited the officials and workers at different levels of government for the smooth implementation of the whole plan. The state government will give a one-time snack allowance of Rs 5,000 to each one of them for the two months, while they would be working on the project. Besides, the Chief Minister also said that the fourth phase of the government will end on January 25. At the same time, she said, that the state government will spend an appreciable amount of money on development projects for the common man.

The state government took to the field with the target of setting up a total of 20,000 camps for the purpose of the Duare sarkaar project. This comes in parallel to the outreach drive carried out by the TMC-led government. Mamata Banerjee has claimed that 11,056 camps have already been set up. Among these, health projects are at the top of the ladder of success. West Bengal is also performing well in the case of child nutrition. This reflects a nation-wide survey carried out last year. The survey on the nutritional status of Indian kids and adolescents by the ministry of health and family welfare, in collaboration with UNICEF, had not only found Bengal ahead of several states in a number of key performance indicators but also doing better than the national average in certain aspects of child nutrition.

A total of 42.41 lakh applications seeking inclusion in Swasthya sathi, were submitted under the head of health under the Duare sarkaar project. Of these, 27.13 lakh applications have already been approved. The success rate is 63.97 percent. The Chief Minister claimed that 4.72 lakh people have already received health cards. She also assured that the rest will also get the card soon. In terms of popularity, caste certificate programme comes in the second place. There were 9.71 lakh applications. There is also the Khadya sathi project, in which, 7.14 lakh people have applied. In this case, the approval rate is 44.53 percent.

The Chief Minister said that the government has so far approved 12,000 applications in the Shikshashree project. In Joy Johar project, that number is 1500. For the Scheduled Caste project, around 6,600 applications have been approved. The success rate is 66 percent. For the much-touted and popularized Kanyashree project, 1.26 lakh applications have been submitted out of which 72000 applications have been approved.

The sanctioned amounts granted for Rupashree (for marriage) and Aikyasree are Rs 26000 and Rs 15600 respectively. For 100 days’ work, 4.76 lakh applications have been approved. In Krishakbandhu project, the number of approved applications is 1.53 lakh. A total of 17,000 applications have been submitted for the humanitarian projects out of which, 12 thousand applications have been approved/granted.

The Chief Minister said that not only good response has been received on the Duare Sarkar project, but the welfare projects for various marginalized sections have also recorded progress. She also highlighted the development of the correctional facilities. Special arrangements have also been made in the camps for welfare of the drivers of Toto (e-rickshaw) and autorickshaws and the elderly people estranged from families. Mamata Banerjee also added that there is a lot of enthusiasm around the litany of the cultural programmes that have been organized around the camps.
