Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday announced its list of all 70 candidates for the upcoming Delhi assembly polls.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will contest from the New Delhi constituency. The document released by the party’s political affairs committee named Manish Sisodia as the candidate from Patparganj, Satyendra Jain from Shakur Basti, Jitendra Tomar from Tri Nagar, Jarnail Singh from Tilak Nagar, Atishi from Kalkaji and SK Bagga from Krishna Nagar constituencies. Of this, as many as 46 legislators are repeat candidates.
Soon after the list was out, Kejriwal tweeted, “Best wishes to all. Don’t be complacent. Work v hard. People have lot of faith in AAP and u. God bless.”
The Delhi assembly elections are scheduled for February 8, and the votes will be counted three days later.

“As many as 46 sitting MLAs have been given tickets, 15 sitting MLAs have been replaced… While six women were given tickets by AAP last time, we have now given tickets to eight,” Manish Sisodia, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, said.

Among the new faces, who will be contesting on the AAP ticket, are former Congressmen Shoaib Iqbal (Matia Mahal) and Prahlad Singh Sawhney (Chandni Chowk).

Raghav Chadha and Dilip Pandey will fight from Rajinder Nagar and Timarpur seats, respectively.

This time, there are eight women to contest the Delhi Assembly election. Apart from that, six new names were given on vacant seats and 15 seats were changed.

Earlier today, sitting AAP MLA from Badarpur ND Sharma announced that he has tendered his resignation from the party and accused Kejriwal and Sisodia of taking Rs 20 crore for distributing the poll ticket to a ‘land mafia’.

AAP swept the 2015 assembly elections, bagging 67 seats to leave the BJP with just three. The Congress, which had ruled the national capital from 1998 to 2013, drew a blank.
