As the entire country witnessed mixed reaction over Ayodhya verdict, major section of the society hailed the Supreme Court order to build Ram Mandir at the disputed land, with directing that one of the litigants in the case, the Sunni Waqf Board, be given five aces of “suitable land” within Ayodhya for a mosque.

It was being speculated that if the major verdict will have any impact on the formation of Maharashtra government which has been delayed by over a month owing to the stalemate between the BJP and Shiv Senaover CM post.

Conjectures aggravated with senior Shiv Sena Sanjay Raut posting a cryptic message on Twitter after the Supreme Court (SC) gave its landmark verdict in the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case.

Commenting on the verdict, the Sena leader threw a curveball saying, “First temple, then government. Temple in Ayodhya, the government in Maharashtra… Jai Shri Ram.”

It was expected that the verdict would bring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena together again as both the parties have individually supported the construction of a grand temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya and have often talked about it during election campaigns.

Before the Lok Sabha election campaign earlier this year, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had categorically demanded that a temple should be constructed at the disputed site at the earliest. The demand of Shiv Sena got instant support from Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), an affiliate of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of the ruling BJP.

RSS leaders are keen that BJP leaders reach out to Shiv Sena chief to end the differences in Maharashtra.

The BJP and the Sena, with 161 seats between them in the 288-member House, have not been able to form a government due to a stalemate on sharing of the chief minister’s post.
