Despite the fact that BJP won only two seats in the state in 2014, the party is geared to make a come back in West Bengal this time. Perhaps that’s why the party is making their presence felt in the state big time.
Although Trinamool flags still remain on the top spot, the saffron flags certainly outnumber CPM and Congress ones in the state.
Focusing on about 20 out of 42 constituencies in the state, BJP is trying to mop up all the anti-Mamata votes considering the Left and Congress have almost withered out of the state.
The party is in a close fight with Trinamool in at least 10 seats: Raiganj, Darjeeling, Alipurduar in the north,Malda Uttar, Malda Dakshin, Asansol in central Bengal, and Barrackpore, Krishnanagar, Basirhat and Kolkata
Uttar in the south.
BJP is also banking on the “578 companies of central forces to be deployed across the state for every booth
to ensure peaceful elections”, according to the party’s poll managers.
