All India Protest Day has been announced by the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday – September 14, 2020. As per a statement issued by the party, the protest is in response to the rapid downfall of the Indian economy.

CPI aims at calling out to the people against the Central Government policies and to join their protest to ‘save India for livelihood, equality and justice for all’.

According to the statement, “the protest is to mobilize people against the disastrous policies of the Modi government which have caused massive unemployment, poverty and loss of livelihood. This is to demand that the finance minister has no moral right to continue for her false claims and lies about the economy.”

Nirmala Sitharaman- the finance minister of India, has been criticized by the CPI for being responsible for the poor economic conditions of the country. The party claims that the decisions taken by the finance minister has resulted in the economic fall.

CPI suggests that Sitharaman had yet again announced measures that are responsible for the economic slowdown in such a condition when she should have focused upon measures for an increase in the public investment to generate employment and elevate the domestic demand.

Additionally, the party has also announced that Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2020, will be observed as a celebration of the plurality and secularism of the democracy of India.

The statement mentions – “The party must see all secular democratic forces come together to express our strong resolve to fight communal fascist forces. State units must organize functions and meetings in a suitable manner on October 2, 2020, which is Gandhi’s birth anniversary.”

The day of the protest is the same as the Parliament’s monsoon session on Monday.
