In coming weeks, if not days, Koo would probably be the new platform for cacophony by Kangana ranaut. It seems that the B-town actor has not learnt her lesson as to how to behave on spaces like Twitter as a publicly known figure.
In a reaction to the post-poll violence in West Bengal, where causalities range across party-lines, Ranaut had tweeted that Modi should tame Mamata using his Virat roop of early 2000s, alluding to the Gujarat episode of 2002. She was reacting to a tweet by the journalist-BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta describing the post-poll violence. It is worthwhile to note that the post-poll violence has claimed lives of people across party lines ie, TMC, BJP and ISF. Her twitter account has been permanently suspended after the controversial tweet related to the post-election result violence in West Bengal. Today the social media site said that the account repeatedly violated Twitter policy on “hateful conduct and abusive behavior”. Her Twitter account was earlier suspended for calling the protesting farmers as terrorists.
A Twitter spokesperson said, “We have been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm. The referenced account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter Rules specifically our Hateful Conduct policy and Abusive Behaviour policy.” The spokesperson added that the rules were applied judiciously and impartially to all. Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel had provoked fury, last year, with a tweet blaming the Tablighi Jamaat for the spread of Covid19.
Many people reacted to Kangana’s tweet demanding strong action against her. Kangana has always been known as an attention-seeking actor pandering to the majoritarian polarizing sentiments which is in resonance with the ideological leanings of BJP. Earlier, in this regard, she also had a clash with Maharashtra government.
It remains to be seen what she does over the other social media site-Koo.
