Barely two months before the assembly elections in Haryana, the Phogat father-daughter duo have joined BJP in their home state Haryana on Monday. Babita Phogat and Mahavir Phogat who hail from Bhiwadi, Haryana are pro wrestlers. Amir Khan starrer ‘Dangal’ is a movie that is loosely based on their lives where the father goes against all the odds to teach his daughters about wrestling.
They joined Bhartiya Janta Party in the presence of Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The party’s general secretary in-charge of Haryana Anil Jain and it’s State Chief Subhash Badala were present amongst the others.
The Phogat sisters – Babita Phogat and Geeta Phogat, time and again have been bringing laurels for the country. This induction of Phogats will help BJP politically in the state bound elections that are scheduled later this year. Also, not to forget that they were happy from PM Modi’s major decision like ‘repealing of Article 370’ or the answer to Phulwama Attack, as evident from their social media handles.

The ace wrestler Mahavir Phogat has intially joined Jannayak Janta Party founded by Ajay Chautala, son of the former Chief Minister OP Chautala as the chief of the party’s sports cell. But he shifted his verticals horizontally after he did not receive the party ticket. The Arjuna Awardee Mahavir Phogat stick to the Modi’s legacy of ‘ Beto Bachao Beti Padhao’ since he went against all the odds and taught all his four daughters about ‘Dangal’.
Jain commented that it was a significant day for the Haryana BJP.
