The AamAadmi Party (AAP) is prepping up for the upcoming Delhi polls. The latest buzz says that the party has decided to give another chance to its candidates who contested elections in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Party sources say that AAP is giving another chance to its big face who fought the battle in the Lok sabha polls.
Delhi assembly elections are due early next year.
The move comes as many seats are lying vacant after the disqualification of MLAs and the party feels it has many strong candidates to fill the void.
Prominent faces in AAP who fought the Lok Sabha elections include Pankaj Gupta (Chandni Chowk), Atishi Marlena (East Delhi), Raghav Chadha (South Delhi) and Dilip Pandey (North East Delhi).
The AamAadmi Party is looking for suitable candidates from Karawal Nagar, Bijwasan and Gandhi Nagar constituency whose MLAs Kapil Mishra, Anil Kumar Bajpai and Devender Sehrawat were disqualified by Delhi Vidhan Sabha recently.
The party is also looking for a replacement for Alka Lamba. Pankaj Gupta from Chandni Chowk might replace Lamba, who has decided to resign from the primary membership of the party and will contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls as an independent candidate.
The AAP said it is ready to accept her resignation even on Twitter. The party has alleged Lamba for always neglecting her constituency due to her “foreign tours and vacations”.
In another development, With JannayakJanta Party (JJP) and Bahujan SamajPatry announcing to fight Haryana assembly elections alliance, AamAadmi Party (AAP) said it will be going into the contest alone. JJP and AAP had contested Jind assembly bypoll at the beginning of this year and the recent parliamentary elections together.
Meanwhile, with just a few months to go for the Delhi assembly elections, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced the installation of 11,000 WiFi hotspots across the city to ensure seamless Internet connectivity for its residents.
