According to various exit polls by media houses, it is being predicted that Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is set to form the government once again, leaving behind BJP, which is aiming to make a comeback after 20 years.
Congress, it seems, will find it hard to even open the account.
Exit polls have forecast a comfortable victory for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party despite a likely rise in tally for the BJP in the 70-member House.
Most exit poll results are consistent that the Congress, which had won zero seats in the last Assembly elections, might fare poorly this time too.
The AAP had scored an overwhelming victory in the 2015 polls, winning 67 seats and reducing the BJP to three.
If Arvind Kejriwal wins the election this year, it would be a hat-trick for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which had managed to win 67 out of 70 seats in the 2015 polls. The saffron party had won only 3 seats in 2015 while the Congress had none.
Counting of votes will be held on Tuesday, February 11.
3 minority-dominated seats of Mustafabad, Matia Mahal and Seelampur recorded the highest voter turnout in Delhi Assembly elections today.
Both the Congress and the BJP shared seats with their allies this time.
While, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP had kept is focus on the development work done by the government in the last five years, for the BJP, Shaheen Bagh, the epicentre of anti-CAA protest in southeast Delhi, was its main poll plank.
Delhi registered an overall turnout of 54.24% till 5 pm.
Meanwhile, it is being reported that Amit Shah has called for a meeting of BJP MPs as AAP surges ahead in 2020 Delhi Assembly elections.
As most of the exit poll results have shown a clean sweep for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has said that all the exit poll results will “fail”. He has also exuded the confidence that the BJP would win 48 seats and no less.
