Ahead of the state assembly elections, election commission officials have released official data saying that about 1.83 crore voters in Haryana are eligible to exercise their franchise in the upcoming polls.
After the process of addition and deletion of the names of voters, the total number of voters in Haryana is 1,82,98,714.
The office of Haryana Chief Electoral Officer will unveil a special campaign, covering each polling booth in every Assembly constituency, as part of which, information about EVM and VVPAT machines will be given to the people through a special dedicated vehicle.
The information was revealed after a review meeting of preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana organized by the Election Commission of India. Chaired by Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India (ECI) Sandeep Saxena, the meeting was also attended by ECI Dilip Sharma.
The officials also decided to give extra help and take special measures to help differently-abled cast their votes smoothly, in urban as well as rural areas.
Police department has been directed to set up police check-post in districts adjoining borders with adjoining states so that there should be no trouble.
The officers also informed that they run campaigns and take special measures to encourage female voters and cast their right.
Apart from this, college students, who are 18-19 years old, are also being made aware to cast their vote.
Meanwhile, the parties are upping their game as the state nears the electoral process.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to come up with an outreach programme to connect with voters from scheduled castes to spread the message that the party was not against reservations.
To reach out to the SC community, the BJP will form groups of 1,000 SC voters each and appoint a person from a general caste to interact with them and make them aware of the party’s stand.
Such a programme holds prime importance in a state like Haryana where 20% of its population counts for SC communities.
