Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent election rally in Thanesar in Haryana turned a little awkward when a man from the crowd targeted the Prime Minister over “BetiBachao, BetiPadhao” scheme.
The man raised slogans questioning Modi government over “BetiBachao, BetiPadhao” scheme. He also threw papers towards the dais when PM Modi was delivering his address.
According to media, the man shouted, “Where is BetiBachao, BetiPadhao?”his move resulted in a commotion for about five minutes, before police officials caught hold of him. The policemen in civil dress caught hold of the man from an enclosure close to the media block and took him away.
The man was identified as Ashok Kumar of Gulab Nagar in Jagadhri, from the papers he threw at the dias. In his letter addressed to the PM, Kumar narrated a case where a Class 8 girl studying in a school in Yamunanagar was allegedly sexually harassed by a male teacher on August 26.
During his address, PM Modi praised the state for realising his dreams of Beti Bachao, BetiPadhao. He said, “We will have two types of Diwali this time. A ‘diya’ (earthen lamp) Diwali, and a ‘kamal’ (lotus) Diwali. We should dedicate this Diwali to our daughters and celebrate their achievements. This Diwali should be in name of our daughters.”
“Had the villages of Haryana not stepped forward then ‘BetiBachao, BetiPadhao’ would not have been so widespread, effective and fruitful. Every person in Haryana says ‘Mharichhoriyaanchhoron se kamhainke?’,” he added.
Modi further said, “- I don’t come to Haryana for election rallies, I don’t campaign for BJP in Haryana, I don’t ask for votes in Haryana. Haryana itself calls me. I can’t stop myself from coming here. You have given me so much love.”
