The entire world is fighting the pandemic of novel Coronavirus, with India too coming up measures to battle the tough times. In the same context. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a ‘janta curfew’ on March 22 urging people to stay home from 7am to 9pm.
The main idea behind the move is social distancing, less people on roads, less chances of infection transmission and ultimately breaking the chain of the virus that has been spreading like a wildfire.

- Passenger trains will not originate from any railway station in the country from midnight on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday in an attempt to ensure that people follow the ‘Janta Curfew’.
- All suburban train services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Secunderabad will be reduced to a bare minimum as well.
- GoAir has announced that it is voluntarily suspending all flights on March 22 when ‘Janta curfew’ will be in force.
- IndiGo will be operating 60 per cent of its domestic flights on Sunday when ‘Janta curfew’ would be in force.
- The women protesters in Shaheen Bagh will continue with their protest on Sunday, the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to remain inside their houses under a self-imposed curfew.
- Many Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Shah Rukh Khan, Shabana Azmi, among others are tweeting and urging people to follow ‘janta curfew’
- Most private establishments and some public services will be shut across Bengaluru and the rest of Karnataka on Sunday.
- The Muzaffarnagar district jail authorities will not let visitors meet inmates on Sunday when ”Janta curfew” will be in force to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
