After Maharashtra and Haryana, now the state of Jharkhand is set to go to polls. The five-phase election will start on November 30.
Results for the Jharkhand assembly elections will be declared on December 23.
As the Election Commission of India made the announcement on Friday evening, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in the state.

The first phase of polling is scheduled to be held on November 30. Voting in second phase will be held on December 7 for 20 constituencies. Third phase will be held on December 12, fourth phase on December 16 and fifth phase on December 20.
Polling will be held in 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand. Jharkhand is currently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Among the primary challenges that BJP chief minister Raghubar Das will face in this election will be crime, especially lynching and mob violence, which has seen a rise in the state.

BJP leader Raghubar Das took as the 10th CM of Jharkhand on December 28, 2014 in 14 years of its formation. Das also is the Jharkhand’s first non-tribal Chief Minister.

The BJP, which currently rules the state in an alliance with the All Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU), will hope for better results than it recorded in Maharashtra and Haryana.

The election will be the third full state poll since Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the BJP to a massive win in Lok Sabha elections in April-May. It will also be the third BJP-ruled state to head to the polls this year, following Maharashtra and Haryana, which voted on October 21.

The Congress and the JMM have announced a tie-up but they have yet to finalise seat-sharing. “Everything is pre-decided, and the grand alliance will be announced soon,” Jharkhand Congress chief Rameshwar Oraon was quoted saying this to the media.
