History was made and Indians rejoiced with pride as javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won a Gold medal for the country by throwing his best as compared to 12 players from across the world at Tokyo Olympics.
Chopra on Saturday became the first from the country to win a gold in track and field in the Olympics as he threw a distance of 87.58m to pick the gold at the ongoing sporting event.

- The son of a farmer from Haryana, Chopra is the first athlete representing India to have won gold in javelin throw at both the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.
- Chopra took up the sport in 2011, inspired by watching people practice throwing javelin in Haryana.
- Chopra has become the second person after Abhinav Bindra to win a gold for India in any Individual games.
