A day after former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia quit Congress, ending his 18-year-old tie-up with the party, bringing the Kamal Nath led government in Madhya Pradesh in shambles, the Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Thursday decided to verify facts afresh in a complaint against former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and his family in which they are accused of falsifying a property document while selling land.
“Yes, an order has been given for re-verification of facts in the complaint filed by Surendra Shrivastava,” an EOW official told media.
Following Scindia’s resignation, 22 MLAs who belong to his camp also resigned, threatening the survival of the Kamal Nath government in the state.
He had lodged the complaint first on March 26, 2014. But it was investigated and closed in 2018, the EOW official said. “As he again petitioned us today, we will re-verify the facts,” the officer said.
Scindia’s close aide Pankaj Chaturvedi called the move as political vendetta.
“The case had been closed for want of evidence. Now for vengeance, it is being reopened. We have full faith in the Constitution and law. We will get justice and Kamal Nath government a befitting reply,”Chaturvedi said.
Meanwhile, sharing a photo of his meeting with Scindia, Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “Met JyotiradityaScindia ji. I am sure his induction into the party will further strengthen BJP’s resolve to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh.”
The Madhya Pradesh Congress had earlier trolled Scindia in a post, pointing to the absence of any welcome tweets for him from PM Modi or Amit Shah.
“Not even a tweet by Narendra Modi ji or Amit Shah ji to welcome Scindia ji! Modiji, Shah ji, at least do not do it so soon! It has not even been 24 hours yet and you guys have already started humiliating him…!” Madhya Pradesh Congress tweeted in Hindi.
