The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said it has re-registered the Bihar Police FIR in the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case to initiate its probe.
He went on to add that the case was registered against six accused, including Rajput’s controversial friend Rhea Chakraborty, Inderjit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda and Shruti Modi.
Rhea Chakraborty’s plea sought the transfer of the first information report (FIR) against her which has been filed on July 25 by KK Singh, Rajput’s father — accused Chakraborty of abetting the 34-year-old actor’s suicide, from Patna to Mumbai in the wake of a jurisdictional dispute between police forces in Bihar and Maharashtra. While hearing the plea, A single-judge bench of the Supreme Court, asked Maharashtra and Bihar as well as Singh to file their replies on Chakraborty’s plea within three days. Justice Hrishikesh Roy did not pass any protective order in Chakraborty’s favour.
The court also asked Maharashtra police to inform the court about the status of investigation by the Mumbai Police. The case will come up for hearing next week.
During video-conference hearing, Pleader general Tushar Mehta, who represented the Centre, told the court: “The Union of India has in principle accepted the request by Bihar to have a CBI probe.”Later in the day, the department of personnel and training issued a notification to this effect.
Now, the critical question takes place that whom the case actually belongs to — Maharashtra or Bihar. Chakraborty’s legal team says the Bihar government cannot recommend a CBI probe since police from that state do not have any jurisdiction to even investigate the case.
Further, Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Bihar, asked the court adjourn the matter opposing Rhea’s transfer plea.
Meanwhile, in a startling interview to Times Now, Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend, Siddharth Pithani, has said that the actor had confronted his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, about the alleged purchases she’d made with his money.
Siddharth said that Sushant had told him expressly not to talk to his family about him. He said that Sushant had told him that his expenses were getting out of hand. “Mere expenses zyaada ho rahe hain. I want to cut down all the expenses,” Siddharth said Sushant told him. The matter was also discussed among the actor’s staff. “In conversation they used to tell me that sir is worried about expenses, and that Rhea is buying stuff with his cards, but we don’t know how to tell him, and we are very sure he is worried about it.” he said.
Sushant’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani, he revealed that he didn’t find any torn pages in the diary. Infact, according to Pithani, the actor used to remove pages of his books.
