After winning the 2019 Lok Sabha polls massively, the Bhartiya Janata Party is set for another rounds of elections this year. the party is gearing up for upcoming polls in three states namely, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand, in the coming months.

The party is expected to play nationalist card riding high on two big developments, the Balakot strike and the abolition of article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shiv Sena and BJP leaders recently held their first round of talks on seat-sharing discussing possible seats that could be allotted to their allies for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls.

The Sena is pushing for 50:50 seat share, which means out of the 270 seats, they want to contest 135 seats. However, BJP leaders indicated that there was pressure from the organisation to stake higher seat share considering its electoral growth in state in the last five years.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Kumari Selja was appointed the President of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee on September 4. The announcement came after weeks of uncertainty and sparring within the Indian National Congress’ Haryana unit over its leadership.

The former Union minister has a massive task ahead, He will have to bind the party together, rejuvenate the party and build a comprehensive campaign to take on the strong Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election machinery.

The BJP swept the state of Haryana in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, winning all of the 10 seats there. BJP’s vote-share significantly increased as compared to 2014.

BJP has also begun preparations for Jharkhand elections. Prime Minister Modi, who is currently on a Russian visit, will be in Ranchi on September 12 for a party rally. JMM is the main opponent in the state and will bank on the tribal votes. On the other hand, BJP has a non-tribal chief minister in Raghubar Das and will woo the upper caste voters.
