The Belarus has been a hotbed of protests widely known as Anti cockroach revolution and Slipper revolution which started during the global Covid pandemic in the late May this year. This protest is against the government at Minsk led by the president Alexander Lukashenko who won a sixth term in the recently concluded elections. Infamously known as the last dictator of the Europe, Lukashenko is known to be an authoritarian president and has been blamed for mismanagement of the pandemic, a faltering economyand silencing of opposition. The regime under Lukashenko is known to exile its protesters and opposition leaders.
Recently the workers who form a crucial support base for the government also joined the protests in the east European country. Many workers of the Minsk tractor Works had gathered outside the factory. They stated that the election needs to be carried out again. They threatened that they would not go to work until the government reorganizes the election. Belarus is known to have records of false polls organized to boost the image of the government. One of the prominent workers at the factory in Minsk claimed that the government and its officials are worse than the Nazis. The protests by the manufacturing unit workers pose a serious threat as they form the core base of the state-owned corporations which generate more than half of the industrial output of the country. Situation is slowly turning serious in Minsk with numerous workers walking out of factories and marching towards the main government building.
