The results for the assembly elections in Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland are out, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the clear winner. The Congress-Left alliance, which had high hopes of winning in Tripura, failed to impress, and the TIPRA Motha party’s ‘kingmaker’ expectations went nowhere.

In Tripura, the BJP retained its position and won a total of 35 seats, while the Congress-Left alliance only managed to secure 17 seats. The TIPRA Motha party, which was expected to play the role of kingmaker, could only secure 7 seats.

In Meghalaya, the BJP made significant gains and won 2 seats, while the National People’s Party (NPP) emerged as the largest party with 14 seats. The Congress could only secure 10 seats, and other regional parties won a total of 8 seats.

In Nagaland, the BJP created history by winning 12 seats, surpassing its previous record of 11 seats in the 2018 elections. The ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) secured 18 seats, and the Naga People’s Front (NPF) won 10 seats.

The results are a significant setback for the Congress-Left alliance, which had high hopes of winning in Tripura and making significant gains in Meghalaya and Nagaland. However, the BJP’s impressive performance in all three states has once again established its dominance in the Northeastern region.

The assembly election results are crucial as they set the tone for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The BJP’s success in all three states is a boost for the party, while the Congress-Left alliance needs to rethink its strategy and come up with a new plan for the upcoming elections.

Overall, the BJP’s impressive performance in the Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland assembly elections has once again demonstrated its popularity in the Northeastern region and set the stage for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
