The Haryana government is considering a proposal to create an emergency fund to provide immediate financial assistance to farmers in the midst of ongoing protests against the Farm bills 2020.

JP Dalal, Haryana cabinet minister said that a number of new schemes were launched to open the doors to 17 lakh farmer families of the state as an opportunity for economic development during the period of a nationwide lockdown.

He further added that the farmers’ incomes should increase not only from farming but also from other areas including animal husbandry. In the state, Pasudhan credit card scheme has been developed in the same way as the Kisan Credit Card for the purpose of making Haryana the leading state in the country in the area of per capita milk productivity. Under the Livestock Credit Card scheme, financial assistance will be given to the livestock owners in the form of loans for the maintenance of their livestock, for which the maximum limit will be Rs 3 lakh.

He also added that there are about 16 lakh families in Haryana who have milch animals that are being geographically tagged. He said that geographically, it is best suited to meet the daily needs of fruits, flowers, vegetables, milk, eggs, and meat of about 5 crore people in Haryana, Delhi, and nearby areas. He said that Haryana has prepared new relevant schemes for farmers in this direction.
