In the sixth phase of West Bengal elections, polling is being conducted in nine constituencies each in North Dinajpur and Nadia districts, 17 in North 24 Parganas and eight in East Burdwan where 10,409,948 electorates are deciding the fate of 306 candidates among which 27 candidates are female. In the sixth phase polls, West Bengal recorded 70.42% voter turnout recorded till 3:40pm.

Ruling party in the state, TMC and ruling party at centre, BJP are contesting all 43 seats. On the other hand, Congress, the Left parties and the Indian Secular Front have made a coalition and are contesting under the banner of Samyukta Morcha. Out of the 43 seats in this round, Congress has got 12 in its share, CPI(M) got 23, All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) got four and CPI has got two seats. Apart from this, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is also trying its luck and has fielded 37 candidates.

In a rally, Mamata Banerjee asserted that Modi government has enough money but would not provide vaccines free of cost. TMC supremo added that the Centre should not allow differential pricing of Covid-19 vaccines, further stating that people should be able to avail the shots free of cost.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal further stated that she cannot surrender the state to the “two goons of Delhi”. Addressing a public rally in Dakshin Dinajpur, Ms. Banerjee said, “I am not a player, but I know how to play. I was the best player in the Lok Sabha earlier. We cannot surrender our Bengal to two goons of Delhi.”

While the polling in the sixth-phase has been more or less peaceful, a clash took place between BJP and Trinamool at Lichubagan in Khardah.
