Ninety-four of Bihar’s 243 seats are up for election today in the second phase of the assembly polls in the state.

The key candidates include Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Left parties and the Congress.

The election is being held amid tough campaigning by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi has so far held 10 rallies in the state, there are two more to go.

In one of his rallies, The PM targeted Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. The latter, who was dismissed as a mere pretender just weeks ago, was acknowledged as the NDA’s challenger. In rally after rally, PM Modi referred to the RJD leader as ‘jungle raj ka yuvraj’.

Nitish Kumar had hit out at him and LJP’s Chirag Paswan, calling them a “cricketer and actor using him for publicity”. Tejashwi Yadav has been hitting Mr Kumar with a “mentally tired” allegation.

Tejashwi Yadav’s elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav has shifted base from Mahua in Vaishali and is trying his luck from Hasanpur in Samastipur district.

Meanwhile, by-elections for 54 assembly seats across 10 states are also being held today.

By-elections are being held on seven assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The last phase of elections will be held on November 7, after which the votes will be counted on November 10.
