Congress Senior Leader, P Chidambaram on October 18, took to Twitter to share the lines spoken by Mr. Joe Biden, American Democrat party’s Presidential nominee for the 2020 election. Mr. Chidambaram quoted Biden, “We choose hope over fear, unity over division, science over fiction and truth over lies”. This was shared with intent to avow for voters facing the elections in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and elsewhere terming it as a ‘good vow’ for the voters.

Chidambaram also referred to Jacinda Ardern’s re-election in New Zealand. Arden’s centre-left Labour Party secured a landslide victory in the New Zealand’s General Election.
Mr. Chidambaram further went on to mention her in his tweet as it gives hopes to people that decency and progressive values can win elections in a democracy. In US, a prominent portion of NRIs is hoping of Biden getting elected. Earlier this week, the 2020 Indian American Attitude Survey (IAAS) indicated that 72% of registered Indian American voters have voted for or are deliberate to vote for Joe Biden and his Vice Presidential candidate, Ms. Kamala Harris.

Bihar goes to poll on October 28 and the by-elections in MP will take place on November 3. Coincidentally, November 3 happens to be the date for the D-Day in the USA Presidential Elections too. In Bihar, the Congress is part of the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ – an opposition-led alliance between Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal. Parties in this alliance released their manifesto yesterday, promising 10 lakh everlasting government jobs and speedy repeal of the centre’s controversial farm-legal guidelines (Farm bills 2020).

Congress will contest on 70 seats as part of a settlement with the RJD. Spread over 3 phases, outcomes of the Bihar Election will probably be declared on November 10.  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party JDU are in an alliance with BJP, and are hoping for a 6th term in Bihar. While in MP, by-polls have been considered as vital after 22 Congress MLAs jumped boats earlier and went along with Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ex-Congress member, to BJP.
