Amid ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many have lost their jobs in the US. Amid this, President Donald Trump is considering suspending a number of employment visas including H-1B, considered as the most sought-after among Indian IT professionals.

According to US’s The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, this proposed suspension could extend from October 1, when the government new fiscal year begins.

The H1B visa is a non-immigrant visa which allows US companies to employ the foreign workers in their area of expertise.

This move can have a negative impact on the thousands of Indian IT professionals working in the US.

Although White House in a statement stated that no final decision has been made and they are currently evaluating the various options in order to protect American workers and job seekers.

According to reports, the suspension could also apply to the H-2B visa for short-term seasonal workers, the J-1 visa for short-term workers and the L-1 visa for internal company transfers.
