Article of impeachment was formally introduced by a group of House Democrats, in which Trump was charged with incitement to insurrection. This comes as a result of the US capitol storming by Trump supporters, provoked by his speech. Ted lieu of California, David Cicilline of Rhode Island and Jamie Raskin of Maryland introduced the article. Alex Mooney, A Republican from West Virginia objected to the Democrats’ resolution about invoking the 25^th Amendment, as he wanted a floor debate on the measure.

It was earlier speculated that the Impeachment from the US Congress or invoking the 25^th Amendment from the Vice-President would not be done given the few days remaining for Trump as President.

In this context, the ABC reported that the FBI had sent a bulletin stating that the agency has got information on an armed group intending to travel towards Washington on January 16. The group, the bulletin stated, has warned that attempt to remove Donald Trump from the office will result in a huge uprising.
