In another incident adding chagrin to the BJP, in the run-up to the West Bengal election this year, the people whom the party tried to influence went to the TMC. The Bengal election would be the first major state election in India this year, with the population looking forward to the vaccines against the Covid19.

The farmers from whose house BJP national president JP Nadda collected rice during his visit to Burdwan on Saturday turned up at the TMC party office, after which TMC leaders claimed that, they (the farmers) were supporters of the ruling party in West Bengal. This development comes when the electoral fight in West Bengal is set between three sides, TMC, BJP, and the Congress-Left alliance.

The five farmers were seen at the office of TMC MLA Rabindranath Chattopadhyay in Katwa. “These five families are TMC supporters for a long time. We will never give them money and ask them to work for our party. But J P Nadda went to their houses to seek votes. Today, they have come here to show their support for us and we are happy for that,” claimed Chattopadhyay. A reaction from the BJP was not available. This shows the extent of failure & desparation of the BJP to get into the minds of the local population in West Bengal.
