Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor, who was also a film producer and director, breathed his last today. He was 58. The Ram Teri Ganga Maili actor suffered a heart attack at his residence in Chembur following which he was rushed to Inlaks Hospital. He was declared dead at the hospital, media reports said.
Rajiv was the youngest son of the legendary Raj Kapoor, and the brother of Randhir Kapoor and late actor Rishi Kapoor.
Sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor posted a photo of the actor on social media and wrote: “RIP.”
When contacted Randhir confirmed the sad and shocking news, saying, “I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him.”
“Broken but strong,” wrote Kareena Kapoor along with the broken heart emoji as she shared priceless throwback black and white memory.
Rishi Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni took to social media and condoled the death of her uncle as shared a picture of Rajiv Kapoor on social media and wrote ‘goodbye uncle’.
Commenting on Riddhima’s post, Sophie Choudry wrote, “So so sorry to hear this. Deepest condolences to the whole family, sending love and light.”
Alia Bhatt’s mother and actress SoniRazdan also commented on the post and wrote, “Deepest condolences and love to you all. This is just so tragic.”
Actor Sanjay Dutt paid his tribute and tweeted, “Absolutely heartbroken to hear about the demise of Rajiv Kapoor. A soul gone too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the Kapoor family in this difficult time. Om Shanti.”
Naved Jafri tweeted, “He was a pure heart and a very nice human being. May his soul rest in peace, deepest condolences to the family #rajivkapoor #riprajivkapoor.”
Tusshar Kapoor mourned his demise and tweeted, “Sad to hear of the passing away of Rajiv Kapoor! Deepest condolences to the family! May his soul rest in peace.”
Divya Dutta tweeted, “That’s a terribly shocking news. RIP Rajeev kapoor.”
