A fresh round of talks would be held between Senior Commanders of Indian and Chinese armies on Saturday in order to take ahead the process of disengagement and troops withdrawal from the regions around the north and south banks of the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh.

The talks which would take place at the Corps Commander level are scheduled to take place at Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the LAC in East Ladakh.

The two militaries reached an agreement on the disengagement of troops after nine months of standoff, in a process which was mandated to be in “phased, coordinated and verifiable” manner. The disengagement process began on February 10.

In a statement given in the parliament on February 11, RM stated that China would pull back its troops to east of Finger 8 areas in the northern bank of Pangong lake, and the Indian troops would be based at their permanent base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post near the Finger 3 in the region. The Minister later added that the next meeting of Senior Commanders would occur within 48 hours of the completion of the disengagement process. He also added that other problem areas ” including in Depsang, Hot Springs and Gogra” will be taken up at the upcoming talks between military commanders of the two countries.
