On Wednesday, in the poll-bound state of West Bengal, the Election Commission directed the petrol pumps & various other agencies to remove the hoardings & Ads regarding various central schemes having the pic of PM Modi. This direction came as the hoardings and the Ads with the pic of PM, who is affiliated to the saffron camp, are in violation of the Model Code of Conduct which is in force since the declaration of the election dates and schedule.
As per the direction, such hoardings and Ads should come down within 72 hours.
The development came after a delegation from the TMC high-command including leaders like Firhad Hakim met the officials of the Election Commission and complained about the pics of PM appearing on the hoardings and Ads.
Recently, another TMC leader, Derek O’Brien had brought into the notice of the Election Commission that the pic of PM on the Covid vaccine certificate is also a brazen violation of MCC.
Meanwhile, all the competing parties are carrying ahead their campaigns, with the saffron camp in West Bengal under Dilip Ghosh going ahead with it’s old slogan of “19 mein half; 21 mein saaf”.
