There seems to be no end to Congress troubles as the assembly elections in three major states, Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand, are nearing.

Amid news that Ashok Tanwar resigned from all party posts of Haryana Congress, another party leader threatened to quit the party, just days before the assembly elections.

Senior congress leader and former Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam has raised eyebrows denouncing the state party leadership and accused it of sidelining him.

In a tweet, Sanjay Nirupam said he feels the congress party doesn’t need his services anymore.

“I had recommended just one name in Mumbai for the Maharashtra assembly election. (I have) heard that even that has been rejected. As I had told the leadership earlier, in that case I will not participate in the poll campaign. It’s my final decision,” the minister tweeted.

Talking to a media channel, Nirupam went on to callMilind Deora ‘nikamma’ and blamed him for ‘destroying the Congress party’.

“Milind Deora is a nikamma and that man conspired to remove me. Congress has been destroyed in the last five months. He is unable to find good candidates to nominate in elections because he does not go to people or listen to their issues,” he said.

“I have been tolerating the humiliation for five months when I was unceremoniously removed from the post of Mumbai chief just before elections. But I endured it because I want what’s best for the party, but Milind Deora has destroyed it,” he added.

However, on a conciliatory note he added that the day has not yet come to say goodbye to the party. “But the way the leadership is behaving with me, it doesn’t seem far away,” he said in another tweet.

The infighting in the Mumbai Congress has been public since actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar resigned from the grand old party last month.
