Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday said the “anti-people” BJP government in Haryana will be ousted after the October 21 polls as people have made up their mind to bring back the main opposition party to power.
Hooda blasted the BJP government as he filed his nomination to contest the state assembly election. Before filing the nomination, Hooda performed a havan with his wife and relatives by his side. They all gathered around a pyre, praying to Vedic chants.
“Enough is enough. People of Haryana have been cheated. I caution and exhort you not to get cheated again. I have come to seek your blessings, which are my strength,” said Hooda, striking a chord with the workers.
Hooda said in the past five years, the ML Khattar-led BJP government had not kept a single poll promise.
“Today farmers are not getting minimum support prices (MSPs). Farmers are under debt as they have to pay taxes for tractors and pesticides. They are not getting the right price for their crops,” he said.
“They talk of ‘ab kibaar 75 paar, but people are saying ‘ab kibaar Congress kisarkar’,” the veteran Congress leader told reporters after filing nomination papers from his GarhiSampla-Kiloi constituency.
“This government has been hit by various scams, including cash-for-jobs scam and illegal mining scam. They have not fulfilled any promises they made to the public before coming to power. But they are experts in event management and in selling dreams to the public,” he said.
Voting for the 90-member Haryana assembly will be held on October 21 and the results will be announced on October 24.
