For the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a total of 9 rallies in 4 days. He started his campaign with apublic meeting in Jalgaon. It was then followed by a rally at Sakoli town in Bhandara district of the state.
On October 16, Akola, Panvel, and Partur will witness the PM’s address. This will be followed by his campaign meeting in Pune, Satara, and Parli on the next day. PM Modi will wind up his Maharashtra campaign with a grand public meeting in Mumbai on October 18.
A day before kick starting the rigorous campaigning, Modi expressed his excitement on twitter as he wrote, “Will be campaigning in Maharashtra tomorrow. Looking forward to addressing rallies in Jalgaon and Sakoli. The NDA is going to the people based on the stellar work of our Government led by the youthful and visionary CM @Dev_Fadnavis Ji. We seek five more years to serve the state.”
The assembly election in Maharashtra is scheduled to be held on October 21 and the counting will be held on October 24. The ruling BJP-Shiv Sena coalition, which also includes other small parties, is in direct contest with the Congress-NCP alliance.
Both parties are contesting on 125 seats each in the 288-member Assembly and its allies on the remaining 38 seats.
In total, Maharashtra has 8.94 crore registered voters, out of which 1.16 lakh are service voters. 1.8 lakh ballot units, 1.28 lakh control units, and 1.39 lakh VVPATs will be used in the state.
Meanwhile, with PM Modi taking charge of extensive campaigning, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to address rallies in Chandivali, Dharavi and Latur. His rallies come days after he was highly criticised for flying to Bangkok just before the crucial elections.
