The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra took a dig at the Congress and Rahul Gandhi after the latter gave a speech in Latur city in Maharashtra ahead of the assembly election.

Gandhi took potshots at the Modi government over unemployment, Chandrayaan Mission, GST and various other issues.

Reverting him and in an apparent reference to the Congress leader’s resignation post the Lok Sabha election debacle, Sambit Patra said that a “retired” Rahul Gandhi came to Maharashtra to give a speech.

Referring to senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid’s “Rahul Gandhi left Congress presidency in a huff” statement, Sambit Patra said the former party president is “tired. Rahul Gandhi has retired and Salman Khurshid has said it, added Patra.

Launching a scathing attack on Congress-NCP alliance Patra said that Congress workers didn’t want party leader Rahul Gandhi to campaign in the state for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

“When I go out to take a walk, I hear Congress workers saying why is Rahul Gandhi coming to Maharashtra. They think if Rahul comes here, he will further defame the party in the state. They don’t want him to campaign in Maharashtra,” Patra said addressing a press conference in Maharashtra.

Lauding the Fadnavis government, Patra added, “The previous Congress-led state government was Corruption-ridden and had a tarnished image. Whereas Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led a corruption-free government in the state for the past five years.”

Citing a new report, Patra said that some of the leaders in the previous government had connections with the Dawood Ibrahim. “Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan used Sushil Kumar Shinde`s words to attack India at United Nations General Assembly (UNGC). Shinde should apologise,” he said.
