Campaigning for the BJP for the Maharashtra assembly election, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for scrapping special status of Jammu and Kashmir. He described the move as the “final nail in the coffin of terrorism”.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister added that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is invoking the name of ”Nagpur” is in a way good because “taking the name of God gives salvation to the person”.

Addressing a public rally in Lonavla in Pune district in support of BJP candidate Sanjay Bhegde, Adityanath said that by nullifying Article 370 Modi turned the idea of “One nation, great nation” into reality. He added, “Kashmir, which is called as paradise on the Earth, turned into hell under Article 370. Terrorists used to kill innocent civilians and Indian soldiers.”

The CM made a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said his “involvement in state Assembly polls means BJP is going to win the elections 100 percent”.

“Rahul Gandhi’s involvement in Maharashtra Assembly elections means BJP is going to win the election 100 percent. Defeat is certain for whichever party Rahul Gandhi supports. His presence has confirmed the defeat of Congress and NCP,” claimed Yogi.

Taking a dig at the Congress party, he further said, “Everyone has decided that the alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and Republican Party of India (RPI) will come back to power in Maharashtra and a lot of people can be seen leaving the election ground due to this fear. When Congress used to rule in Maharashtra and Delhi under UPA, the party’s name always reflected in the books of corruption and cheating,” said Yogi.

Adityanath also praised Modi government for working for the cause of the empowerment of women, which he said was previously restricted only to “slogans”. He listed schemes like ‘BetiBachav, BetiPadhao’, ‘Ujjwala Yojana’, and the law to criminalise triple talaq to make his point.
