On Saturday, Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of Calcutta High Court directed actor Mithun Chakraborty to give his email ID to the investigating officer probing the case against him.
The investigating officer shall interrogate the actor by video conferencing till the next date of hearing on 18 June. On June 08, Chakraborty filed a criminal revisional petition in Calcutta HC seeking rejection of a criminal case against him at Maniktala police station.

The criminal case was registered against Mithun Chakraborty on charge of using filthy and unconstitutional language against chief minister Mamata Banerjee during the campaigning of the recently concluded state Assembly election.
The actor was once a TMC MP in Rajya Sabha. He had resigned in the backdrop of a chit fund scam & had joined BJP and campaigned for the saffron party during the Assembly polls.
The HC passed the order after both Mithun Chakraborty & the State sought adjournment of the case since counsel for both parties were unavailable.
The Court said, “In view of the accommodation sought for by both sides, I fix the matter to be heard on June 18, 2021 as a motion. In the meantime, the petitioner or his advocate-on-record would communicate the e-mail address of the petitioner to the State so that for the purposes of interrogation or answering any query of the investigating officer, the petitioner can make himself available by way of video-conference.”
At an political rally held at Brigade Parade Ground at Kolkata on March 7, 2021 the actor had said, “Ek Choboley Chabi” (Can kill people in one bite) and “Marbo Ekbane Lash Porbe Shoshaney” (I will kick here and the deadbody will land at crematorium), dialogues from two famous Bengali movies.
Over this, a TMC member filed a complaint against Chakraborty. A case was also registered against the actor based on the same for offences under Sections 153A (Promoting disharmony between groups), 504 (Insulting to cause provocation), 505 (spreading false news) and 34 (personal liability for crimes committed in groups).

Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani along with advocate Ayan Bhattacharya represented the actor. Meanwhile, Additional Advocate General Abhrotosh Majumder along with Public Prosecutor Saswata Gopal Mukherjee appeared on behalf the State.
The matter will be heard by the court on June 18.
