The BJP on Wednesday named eight more candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly polls. It replaced rebel party leader Saryu Roy with Devendra Singh in the Jamshedpur West constituency.
In its fifth list, the BJP also named its candidates from seven more seats following a break in its alliance with the AJSU.
With this, the saffron party has named its nominees for most of the seats for the five-phase polls to the 81-member Assembly.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to campaign against his Jharkhand counterpart and BJP leader Raghubar Das who is facing a tough challenge from rebel candidate and former minister Saryu Rai in the assembly election.
Das has held Jamshedpur East seat since 1995 but in this election, he is being challenged by Saryu Rai who was the food and supply minister in the BJP Cabinet till Sunday.
The Congress on Sunday released the fourth list of two candidates, Professor Gourav Vallabh (party’s national spokesperson) from the Jamshedpur East seat and Mamata Devi from Ramgarh seat, who will be contesting the upcoming Jharkhand assembly election.
Professor Gourav Vallabh will contest the Jharkhand assembly elections against the current Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
Earlier on November 8, the Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced that they will form an alliance to contest the upcoming polls in Jharkhand.
Elections are scheduled to be held between November 30 and December 20 in the BJP-ruled state.
With only ten days left for the assembly elections in Jharkhand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set to kick-start the poll campaign in the state on Thursday.
After not being successful to form the government as a single party in Maharashtra and Haryana, the BJP is hopeful of good performance in the state.
Apart from Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address about eight rallies in the state. That apart, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP working president JP Nadda, other union ministers and senior party leaders will also campaign in the poll-bound state.
