The centrally ruling party has added yet another feather in its cap by winning in the three tier Tripura Panchayat elections.

Out of the total 14% of the Panchayat seats, BJP has won 9% seats during polling on 27 July. Earlier, the party had won a total of around 86% seats uncontested. The voter turnout in the three tier Tripura poll was 67.16% till 3 pm.

It had earlier won 5,728 of 6,111 seats in gram panchayats, 337 of 419 seats in panchayat samitis and 37 of 116 seats in zila parishads without any opposition.

While the opposition parties cried foul play, yet they managed to win some seats in Tripura. Major contesting parties were BJP, Congress, CPI(M) and some indigenous parties of the region that represented the Modi government. Since the ballot system was used, so it took some time for the result to be declared. Special security forces were appointed to avoid any kind of mishap during the counting of votes.

After leading through a successful 95% seats across gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishad, the BJP thanked people for making it win.
