Six days after testing positive for coronavirus, Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar on Friday was hospitalized. He said the move was taken as a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice.

“Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalized. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

The legendary batsman also wished his teammates and “all Indians” on the 10th anniversary of India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.

Sachin Tendulkar, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, was in home quarantine, after he developed mild symptoms of the infection.

Besides Tendulkar, other cricketers Subramaniam Badrinath, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan also tested positive for COVID-19 merely days after they all completed Road Safety World Series.

Several Indian cities, including Mumbai, have seen a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases in the past few weeks.

Tendulkar, 47, shared the news at a time when India has started to witness second COVID wave.
