Prepping up for the upcoming Delhi polls, the BJP on Friday announced its 15-member election committee, including party president Manoj Tiwari, for the elections to be held here on February 8.
Besides Tiwari, the committee includes all BJP MPs from Delhi, national office bearers Anil Jain, Dushyant Gautam and RP Singh, former Delhi BJP presidents Vijay Goel and Satish Upadhyay, organisation secretary Sidharthan, Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha president Punam Jha and leader of opposition in outgoing Assembly Vijender Gupta.

In the last week of December, the party had announced a poll management committee and 35 other panels for election-related works.

The people of the national capital will vote for a new chief minister on February 8 and the results will be declared on February 11. Polling will be held at 13,750 polling stations.

In the 2015 polls, Arvind Kejriwal had led the AAP to an unprecedented victory with his party bagging 67 seats, leaving just three seats for the BJP. The Congress drew a blank.

Meanwhile, domestic traders body CAIT has said the BJP should declare a trader as a candidate for the post of chief minister in poll-bound Delhi. It said that no government in Delhi can be formed without support of trading community as it is one of the major and deciding vote bank.

Term of the current Delhi Assembly expires in February 2020 and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hopes to make a comeback in the national capital territory where it lost power 21 years ago.
The BJP has been focusing more on local issues of Delhi in recent times. The BJP has launched campaign against the Arvind Kejriwal government over quality of drinking water in Delhi.
