As the date for the Delhi assembly elections near, the Election commission is gearing up by taking steps to ensure that the polls are conducted peacefully and successfully.

In the same context, the commission organized a special voter awareness campaign at Delhi’s Badali Assembly Constituency to aware people to come out large numbers and cast their votes during the election.

In its statement Election Commission said, ”The objective of Election Commission of India is to ensure maximum participation of voters during General Elections.”

The statement further informed that Delhi Election Commission CEO Ranbir Singh has listed out 30 Assembly Constituencies in NCT of Delhi where the voter turnout was less in the Lok Sabha Election 2019, and plans to conduct special awareness programs at the places.

The statement further said that a special drive of awareness campaign has been started since January 11. “In this series, on the third day i.e. (Monday) various voters’ sensitization activities were organized in Bhalswa Dairy and Jahangir Puri areas in Badali Assembly Constituency in North District of Delhi. During Lok Sabha Election 2019, a total of 90,228 voters out of 2, 13, 449 registered voters from Badali Assembly Constituency did not cast their vote,” it said.

Meanwhile, in another development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) received notices from Delhi’s Chief Electoral Office (CEO) on Monday for not abiding by the by Election Commission & National Commission for Protection of Child Rights instructions.
Voting for the 70-seat Delhi Assembly or Delhi Vidhan Sabha will be held in a single phase on February 8. Counting of votes and results of the Delhi Assembly election will be announced on February 11. The much-awaited Delhi Vidhan Sabha election 2020 will see three major parties Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress fight it out to form the next government in the national capital.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has said that 13,750 polling booths will be set at 2,689 locations for Delhi Assembly election 2020 where a little over 1.46 crore eligible voters will exercise their right to franchise.
