Haryana is gearing up for the upcoming assembly polls to be held in the state soon. The chief electoral officer (CEO) Anurag Aggarwal has unveiled a new logo for the ensuing elections. The logo launch is in tune with the department’s efforts to ring in the upcoming polls like a festival. The move also aims to bring in more and more participants in the electoral process.

The logo prominently features the national bird peacock that symbolises victory, pride and beauty. In the logo, it stands for one’s pride in India’s democracy, to strengthen which people must vote in elections in huge numbers, Aggarwal said.

The Office of Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer is also working on ensuring smooth conduct of the high stakes electoral battle.

With the revision of the electoral roll, the state’s total electorate is pegged at around 1.83 crore. This is likely to go up as the names of the voters, who enrol 10 days before the last date for the filing of nominations, will be included in the final electoral roll. There are 19,442 polling stations across the state.

While the EC has already notified the returning officers (ROs) and assistant returning officers (AROs) for all 90 Assembly constituencies across the state, the state’s law and order machinery is also gearing up to ensure free and fair poll.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address a rally in Haryana’s Rohtak on September 8.
