Due to “some shortcomings”, re-polling will be held in five polling booths of as many assembly constituencies in Haryana, today.

“In the polls which were held in Haryana on Monday, some shortcomings were noticed in five booths after which the Election Commission ordered re-polling in these booths,” said state Joint Chief Electoral Officer Inder Jeet.

The re-polling was to be held from 7 am to 6 pm in booth numbers 71 of Uchana Kalan Assembly constituency in Jind district, 161 of Beri constituency in Jhajjar district, 28 of Narnaul Assembly constituency in Narnaul district, 18 of Kosli in district Rewari and booth number 113 of Prithla in Faridabad district, said state Joint Chief Electoral Officer Inder Jeet.

Polling to 90 Assembly seats was held in Haryana on Monday. Results will be declared on Thursday.

Officials had said that barring “minor incidents”, the polling remained peaceful in the state.

Seven people were hurt in stone-pelting between two groups in a Nuh village and there were “minor incidents” in Rohtak, Narnaul and Bahadurgah districts, police said.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission revised the overall turnout for the Assembly elections from 63.55% to 68.31%. The voter turnout saw a sharp drop from the 2014 elections which brought the BJP to power in the state.

Prominent figures in a field of 1,169 contestants include Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, former Congress CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, JannayakJanta Party leader Dushyant Chautala and Indian National Lok Dal’s Abhay Singh Chautala.

The exit poll result for Haryana shows that in the 90-member Haryana assembly election, the BJP is likely to win 32-44 seats. In the last assembly election, the BJP won 47 seats while the half-way mark in the Haryana assembly is 45.
