Amid tensions between India and China, the Maharashtra government has put hold on the three major projects signed with Chinese companies last week.

These agreements were signed at Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 investor virtual meet which was attended by Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong. The projects involve investments of around Rs 5,000 crore in the state.

Industry Minister Subhash Desai said that decision has been taken in consultation with the central government. He also added that these agreements were signed before the clash on the India-China border and the killing of our 20 soldiers.

Desai also said that the External Affairs Ministry has asked the state government not to sign any further agreements with China.

12 agreements were signed by the Maharashtra government which included companies from Singapore, South Korea, US besides several Indian companies.

Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 was an attempt by the Maharashtra government to kickstart the economy, post-Covid-19 crisis.
