As part of the 2019 assembly elections, all the Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the state of Maharashtra and Haryana went for polling in a single phase on October 21, 2019.
The polling began at 7 am and will conclude at 5 pm. At 11 am, 6.35% voting was recorded in Maharashtra, according to the Election Commission.
Technical glitches in electron voting machines (EVM) were reported from various polling booths in West Nagpur constituency.
For the 2019 general elections, there are around 8.9 crore voters on the electoral rolls of the state of Maharashtra who will be eligible to cast their votes.
Polling in 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana is also underway to decide the fate of 1,169 candidates. At least 1.83 crore voters including 1.07 lakh service voters are eligible to exercise their right to franchise.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, JJP’s Dushyant Chautala and INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala were among the top leaders who campaigned in Haryana where abrogation of Article 370 and the slowing economy dominated the poll campaign along with some local issues.
Wrestlers Babita Phogat, Geeta Phogat, and their family cast their vote at a polling booth in Balali village in Charkhi Dadri constituency. Babita Phogat is contesting on BJP ticket from here against Congress candidate Nirpender Singh Sangwan& JJP candidate Satpal Sangwan.

There are over 95,473 polling booths across the 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra and 19,425 polling booths across the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana.
